Long Long 04:02
A long long time ago And far far far away Lived a little sad sad girl She had curls of cold And a heart as old as the hills... In a li-li-little house On a hu-hu-humming hill Where the forest meets the stars She would spend her days Singing songs of praise For all things... Then one win-win-winter day Came the win-win-wind to play With our little sad sad girl And when she fell asleep He quite-quietly Blew her songs... away... A long long time ago And far far far away Lived a little sad sad girl She had curls of gold But if truth be told... You should be sleeping now

Water O'Wide 04:21
Water o Wide O swift bright water o water o wide Carry my bones t’were all my folks lie In a dark mountain valley by a dark mountain stream Where some stories end and all stories begin There’s a thousand souls wanderin‘ in the valley below Caught in wolf and bear bodies, leave no tracks on the snow If you ever go huntin‘ in this valley below Mind your gun not to shoot one of these poor wanderin souls There’ll come a time when these wanderin souls Will come down from the mountains and cross-breed with dogs And their names will float down the riverrun What has been passed down that has to be done... Oh swift bright water o water o wide Carry my bones t’were all my folks lie In a dark mountain valley by a dark mountain stream Where some stories end and all stories begin...

Hold Me! Fire The day was beautiful, a wonder to enjoy Still, I sat still upon my bark And when the sun began to wander off the sky I felt the presence of the dark Hold me! Hold me! Fire! So through the cold and through the darkness I flew for life Into the arms I knew so well Those of a bright and blazing flower They call a flame That took my wings and left me bare Hold me! Hold me! Fire! Fire!

Moon 05:22
Moon Od pewnego czasu My to nic pewnego Pewnie wiemy to oboje Od pewnego czasu Moja skóra twoja Na innym drzewie Od pewnego czasu Czas sam nie jest pewien moon the light lies long and low on the water the night grows ever colder and so does the moon moon the light makes a cold cut on the water waves move in and out over and over a wound moon moon wound wound
6.
Bare Feet Dirt Road When my dirt road leads me to a quiet field, to a quiet field I won’t know by then just what this quiet means, what this quiet means When my dirt road leads me to the greenest grove, to the greenest grove Then the leaves will tell me everything they know, everything they know When my dirt road leads me to the golden sands, to the golden sands I will then remember, I will understand, I will understand When my dirt road leads me to the water’s mouth, to the water’s mouth Setting suns will mock me, darkening waves will laugh, darkening waves will laugh Setting sun’s will mock me, darkening waves will laugh, darkening waves will laugh I will know by then I haven’t walked enough, haven’t walked enough
7.
Clay 07:11
Clay Show yourself, Persephone Wake the roots in the ground They will hurry to meet me Far from making a sound Till I am dirt and dirt is me I’ll bite and breath the earth It’ll wipe my face away All thoughts, all thoughts will soil Within me Within me Life lines lead away Flesh melts into clay Life lines lead away
8.
Feather 03:50
I whispered into the ear Of the feather that touched my foot My foot stands upon a cloud Red and blue The cloud drifts into your room Your room turns into a boat The boat’s made of paper so We both drown... A bird sits on a tree with a song that’s about to die This song of you and me is no more than a lie I hang upon your lips like a tale that’s about to die This tale of you and me is no more than a lie. No more than a lie. No more than a lie...
9.
O Mother o Father Oh mother oh mother why do you believe in all the old stories, all the mouldy myths? They are not my stories, though I know them well The tale of the hills is the one that I can tell Oh father oh father, when I see the hills I know they have always been here and always will But my stories end at the bottom of these hills And my will melts with them as they are standing still Breathe in, breathe out Breathe in, breathe out Oh mother oh mother, I don’t understand Will ever tomorrow reach our little land? Oh father oh father this is not my time it’s already been breathed through someone else’s lungs Breathe in, breathe out Breathe in, breathe out Oh mother oh father What is a tomorrow? Oh mother oh father Oh mother oh father Breathe in, breathe out Breathe in, breathe out

Not Taller that Trees I want to I want to live Where houses aren't taller than trees I want to I want to live Where waiting is a natural thing I want to I want to live Where the landscape wants you to leave it be I want to I want to live Where houses aren't taller than trees Time fades in the air soaks into the ground Rubs down matter between the thumbs Time flees flies fades Scatters into dust Matter crumbles I want to I want to live...

about

// niżej także notka po polsku //

The album Babadag is a collection of songs written by the singer-songwriter Ola Bilińska and arranged by the whole band: Szymon Tarkowski (Pustki, Płyny) on bass and steel drum, Hubert Zemler (Incarnations, Naatu, Szazaze) on drums and percussion instruments, and Maciej Cieślak (Ścianka) on electric and acoustic guitar. The idea behind the album was to create "organic" music, flowing from the body rather than the intellect, performed primarily on acoustic instruments, referring to primeval, often ritualistic, sounds and rhythms. What resulted from this mixture are song-tales, song-myths with lyrics, in Polish and English, using traditional themes and symbols filtered through the songwriter's contemporary sensitivity. The band draws from versatile musical traditions - from North American folk, through Eastern European "white" singing, to afro-beat - using instruments as different as banjo, glockenspiel, steel drum and Tibetan cymbals, all to create an otherworldly sound of its own. The songs were recorded live, on tape, in the analogue Adam Mickiewicz Studio in Warsaw from November 2011 to February 2012.
